How to learn the alphabet with Biblingo

Updated over a year ago

We try to offer a lot of flexibility within Biblingo in order to meet everyone's learning goals, so we have two different ways to learn the alphabet. Both options are explained below (note: there are some difference between the web app and the mobile app).

Option 1: Integrated Lessons

This is the option we recommend, though it is a unique approach to learning the alphabet. You basically learn just enough letters in order to dive into the first lessons and start learning vocabulary and grammar. Then you learn some more letters in order to learn more vocabulary and grammar, and repeat this until you gradually learn all the letters.

This approach cuts the up-front load of learning the alphabet in half and allows you to get to the fun part - actually using the language - much more quickly.

If you want to use this option, we highly recommend doing it on the mobile app. All you have to do is navigate to the "Learn" tab, and follow the lesson progression. The alphabet videos and exercises are built-in, so you just follow the progression.

Option 2: Standalone Lessons

This option is more of a traditional way to learn the alphabet. You basically learn (and practice) the whole alphabet up front, and then you dive into learning the vocabulary and grammar of the language. Of course, these lessons are still unique in that they use Biblingo's methodology that incorporate interactive practice drills to help you learn not only the letters of the alphabet, but also to begin developing basic reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Here's how Option 2 works on web:

  1. Click the "Alphabet Lessons" tab in the main menu

  2. Scroll down until you see the "Standalone Alphabet" videos

  3. Start with "Standalone Alphabet - Part 1"

  4. Click "Flashcard Deck" in the main menu, then "Preset Decks" in the sub-menu

  5. Click the "Standalone Alphabet Lessons" folder

  6. Complete the following decks: Alphabet Part 1.A, Alphabet Part 1.B, Alphabet Part 1.C, Alphabet Part 1.D

  7. Continue alternating between the alphabet lesson videos and the accompanying flashcard decks

Here's how Option 2 works on mobile:

  1. Select the "Bank" tab in the main menu

  2. Scroll down to the "Alphabet Lesson Videos" section

  3. Select the "Standalone Alphabet" dropdown

  4. Watch the "Standalone Alphabet Part 1" video

  5. In the Bank, go to the "Preset Vocab Decks" section

  6. Select the "Standalone Alphabet Lessons" dropdown

  7. Complete the following decks: Alphabet Part 1.A, Alphabet Part 1.B, Alphabet Part 1.C, Alphabet Part 1.D

  8. Continue alternating between the alphabet lesson videos and the accompanying flashcard decks

To summarize Option 2, this the order in which you should complete the videos and flashcard decks (on both web and mobile)

  1. Video: Standalone Alphabet Part 1

  2. Decks: Alphabet Part 1.A, Alphabet Part 1.B, Alphabet Part 1.C, Alphabet Part 1.D
